Tourist Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

This object was built after construction in 1989 by the now deceased Helmuth Leßmann.
Since then, this lodge has been the meeting point of the VFL Suderburg running group of 50 people founded in 1975. In the beginning, the group met near Hösseringen on the local Hardausee lake.

Lake Hardau

Highlight • Lake

The Hardausee is a dam north of Hösseringen in Suderburger Land. The dam was built in 1971 and dams the Hardau, which ensures an intensive exchange of water and thus also for cool water of good quality in the storage space. Purpose and use are exclusively recreational uses such as fishing, swimming and in winter also ice sports. With a sandy beach and a kiosk, the reservoir attracts many visitors every year. West of the Hardausees is a campsite.

The kiosk has different opening times depending on the season. As far as I know, closed from the end of October and only opens again for the bathing season.

Hardausee Dam and Lake

Highlight • Lake

The dam at the Hardausee is like a giant wall of concrete, built to stop the river's water and create a large lake. It's really huge and so strong that it prevents the water from flowing further, forming a vast lake instead!

The dam is so big that you can hardly miss it! You can walk on top of it and enjoy a great view of the lake and the surrounding area from there. It's almost like standing on a giant mountain, only you don't have to climb!

The dam is also important for ensuring that there is enough water for the people in the surrounding area. When it rains, the dam can hold back and store the water so that we can use it later when we need it.
