Blankensee Castle and Park

Highlight • Castle

The Schloss Blankensee, also called Sudermannhaus, is a manor house. It was built between 1701 and 1740 in the style of the Mark Baroque, supposedly on the foundations of an old castle, for a Saxon district captain (Christian von Thümen). It is located in the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park near Trebbin, about 20 km south of Potsdam. (Source: reiseland-brandenburg.de)

Evangelical Village Church Fresdorf

Highlight • Religious Site

The Protestant village church in Fresdorf is a sacred building from 1724.

Investigations on the building revealed that the foundation of the church was built in 1724 on a previous building made of field stones. In the years 1852 to 1854 the parish enlarged the windows, increased the west tower and replaced parts of the furnishings. Another church consecration took place on April 18, 1854.

In 1899, the court carpenter Max André from Potsdam painted the building. In 1910 the steeple had to be renewed. In the tower ball, workers found some coins from the time of Frederick the Great. The painting was restored in 1993 and 1995 at the same time as the roof was renovated. In 2000 experts repaired the organ for 10,000 DM. In 2002 and 2003, residents from Fresdorf reconstructed the cemetery wall.
