Drachenburg Castle

Highlight • Castle

Drachenburg Castle is the Neuschwanstein of the Rhine. Located below the Drachenfels mountain, it is easily accessible by cog railway or on foot. Ample parking is available in Königswinter. Numerous events take place at Villa Drachenburg throughout the year, as was the case during our short tour.

Three-Lakes Viewpoint

Highlight • Viewpoint

... is called the Drei-Seen-Blick because you can see three sections of the Rhine peeking out between the mountains of the Siebengebirge, just like three lakes. In addition, you have a beautiful view of Drachenfels, Bonn, Bad Godesberg, Cologne, right up to Cologne Cathedral.

So, that was it.... the dragon run in the Siebengebirge 🙃
The route was advertised
26 km and 1050 meters altitude.

The time was taken “classically” here. The starting signal was fired and the time was recorded manually at the finish.
Which was a bit of a shame, pretty soon after the start it came to a standstill and what …

My first Dragon Run in the Siebengebirge Mountains.
It was muddy. It was windy. It was really exhausting. It was trail running. It was a dream 👍🙂
Now I can officially call myself a trail runner and a Dragon Run in one day. Now that's something 😊

This year's motto:
run along and "just" finish, but it's still pretty tough 🥵

Showing Translation

Four weeks before the actual dragon run, the organization team offers a so-called trial run.
So lace up your running shoes and off you go 😃.

At km 22 there was even a refreshment station 🥰, how wonderful ❤️ ….. we had a little chat here and got well-fortified for the last km 😋

Nice running event with over 1000 m altitude, nice people, great food - and the weather was perfect again.
I'd love to come back there next year

Komoot is once again a bit stingy with the elevation gain. The organizer officially lists 1050m, while the Adidas Running app actually puts it at just over 1200m 🤷🏼‍♂️

"To train for the Dragon Run, you could just run the course." 🤔 I thought to myself, and I put it into action 🏃🏻‍♂️
Conclusion: This is going to be a damn cool and tough trail run on October 26th. I'll probably have to plan for some tapering about 10 days before the race.
What did I take away from …
