Holstebro Church and the Hand Sculpture

A church in Holstebro has been here since the early Middle Ages. A stone church was built in 1440 and was the town church of Holstebro until 1905.
It was decided to demolish the old church to make room for a larger church. The new church was inaugurated in 1907.

Part of the inventory of the old church was taken into the new church, including a. the rare and interesting Dutch altarpiece from the beginning of the 15th century.
The newer inventory includes a. "The tree of lights" and "The test of Abraham" by Arne Haugen Sørensen, as well as a crucifix from the workshop of Niels Helledie, a visit is also recommended.
The church has a Frobenius organ from 1957/1982 with 45 voices and a carillon with 48 bells.

On the sidewalk east of the cross arm of the church, the "Old Church" plaque marks the place where the medieval altar was located. The plate is made of Swedish granite and was manufactured by Erik Heide in 2007.
