This is the kind of cycling route you'd want: paved, with gentle gradients and varied scenery. Few cyclists, because the weather wasn't great.
Worth mentioning along the way is the quirky, manual self-service ferry across the Thaya River and, in Waldkirchen, the farmers' self-service shop.
