December 1, 2024,Kleine Runde Hiller Torfmoor 2024
This morning I went out into the sunshine in Hiller Moor. Before the big rush of Sunday walkers arrived, I enjoyed the vastness of the moor. A group of cranes gave a trumpet concert in the sky. Do they like it here so much that they don't want to go south? I could understand that.

When the air is clear and the visibility is good, when fluffy clouds romp in the blue sky, wonderfully reflected in the water, when the sun is already a little lower and even more peace returns, then is the best time to take a tour through the large raised bog...
Been here so many times and always fascinated by the …

Always beautiful 😃 probably the best piece of land in OWL!

However, someone told us on the way that the dog must not be more than a meter off the leash, as it could scare someone 🤓

A May 2nd hike in the vast, atmospheric Hille moor plus a detour to the idyllic Mittellandkanal. All this against the backdrop of the Wiehengebirge in the background, where there was then the cake reward in the quaint café Waldkristall 🥾🌞🌻🍰

Despite the wind, rain and muddy paths, my lunch break today was one of the most beautiful. The "Großes Torfmoor" landscape is just beautiful and I don't think the time of year plays a role. I couldn't resist taking pictures again :-)

A nice walk around the peat bog near Hille.
Beautiful paths partly over wooden walkways and solid lookout towers.
Even with bleak weather and wintry vegetation, it's interesting.
I'm looking forward to spring and the many blossoms there.

The large peat bog is always beautiful.
Unfortunately I live too far away, I would love to cross it once at all times of the year and day.
The play of light is always different, the cloud formations are always different, the hustle and bustle of the animals is also different, and then there is this farsightedness! fantastic!

The Großes Torfmoor nature reserve in the northern Wiehen Hills is the largest remaining moorland in all of North Rhine-Westphalia, and a visit here is always worthwhile.

Located in the lowlands between the Wiehen Hills and the Mittelland Canal, the peat bog, with over 500 hectares of land, is the most important raised bog in Westphalia.
