The Waal en Burger Dijk was created by joining two partial dykes from the 14th and 15th centuries. Sections were only made visible again in the 1960s.
Beautifully designed cycle paths accompany this dike through the polder landscape. In many places there are benches for a rest or to observe nature 🔍📷.

Cycling on Texel is really recommended. The island is beautiful. We stood on a dune campsite which is simply beautiful. But the prices are very high in the high season. Everything costs extra.

Today we drove through the forest, in the south of the island. From there we went to Den Burg. After extensive walking around and shopping, we then drove to Oudeschild. Here we provided ourselves with delicious Raspatat and a corresponding drink. Then it was back to the hearth at home via De Waal.
