Rohrach Meanders Biotope

Highlight (Segment) • Natural

In 1989 the area southwest of Wettelsheim was designated as a "protected landscape component" and was intended as a compensation area. The Rohrach meanders here, not least thanks to the active support of the local beaver. These are the ideal basis for a species-rich fauna and flora. There are many boards and detailed information about the area where the path crosses the Rohrach.
The biotope is very nice to see from the path.

Monument locomotive Treuchtlingen

Highlight • Monument

Treuchtlingens was once a railway junction and to commemorate this the express train locomotive was made available to the city of Treuchtlingen as a memorial. This locomotive of the 01 series, built in 1937, was installed in 1969 on the anniversary of "100 years Treuchtlingen train station" after a mileage of approx. 4.5 million kilometers in the park on the promenade. A beautifully restored specimen, a real eye-catcher.

Hello Rolf and everyone else and thanks for the pictures. I worked in small hydropower for 20 years and don't want to be a smartass. Above this barrier there is a weir that separates the stream and the canal to direct water to the power plant. The water is deliberately dammed up to a certain height in the canal, which increases efficiency. The water level was regulated with the very old wooden gate (barrier), but the necessary canal to the Möhrenbach unfortunately no longer exists. I can't say whether they operate the power plant, it was too cold for me to look at the facility.

Schloss Möhren

Highlight • Castle

The magnificent, castle-like Möhren Castle dates back to the 12th century. The medieval masonry used to be a hunting lodge, but is now privately owned and inhabited by the owners themselves.

Would you like to spend the night in a real castle? Then be happy that there are unique holiday apartments to rent in the Möhren Castle. You can find more information here: schlossmoehren.de

The beautifully designed rest area is located in the middle of Gundelsheim in a spacious area. There are numerous seating areas around the fountain and - as a highlight - a very pretty wooden pavilion.
