Interestingly, OSP was originally created as a company fire brigade operating at the then-thriving breeding farm in Osiek. The decision to establish it was made due to the high risk and numerous fires on the farms. At the time, 23 volunteers came forward from about 40 employees of the farm.
The early years were a hardware challenge. For a long time, volunteer firefighters from Osiek did not have a professional fire engine – they went out on operations and incidents with an agricultural tractor with a trailer.
The breakthrough came in 1986, when the unit received its first fire engine – a used Star model from 1964. Over time, thanks to the efforts of the local community and the inclusion of the unit in the National Rescue-Firefighting System (KSRG), OSP gained modern rescue facilities (including a new fire engine at the end of 2019, drones, and an ATV used for search operations on Lake Jamno).
