'Speechless' Clifftop trail

Highlight • Other

It can make you speechless (not just the translation errors on the signs ;-)
-- Spectacular views along the coast from the top of the cliffs. The trail used to continue where -- the aptly named -- Rue Chewington ends, as the ocean continues to chew on the receding cliffs. Careful not to get too close to the edge even outside the fenced area: the progression of the cliff erosion can be seen in the fact that until 2018 the gate was open for bikers and hikers. Higher fences and signs came in 2022, and by 2023 these entirely blocked the trail. It is safer to take a short detour via the parallel Rue Jeanne d'Arc, and at its end return to the Chemin des Douaniers road at the other side of the closure to enjoy the spectacular ride along the cliff. The official EuroVelo 4 Route follows the busy main road further inland, which is less enjoyable and misses this excellent view.

The historic city hall next to the modern dépendance of the now combined administration sit across the street for the beautifully re-designed park appealing to tolerance and peaceful cooperation after the devastating world wars

A small town where it is good to stop. Some points of interest like the historic town hall, the Museum of the History of the Daily Life and the Park of Tolerance in between. A few steps from the sea and the cliffs of Petit-Caux.

Built at the end of the 16th century, the Villa Briançon was bought in 1686 by Anne Marie Louise of Orléans, the Grande Mademoiselle, to build an orphanage there. Renovated, then transformed into a hospice until 1955, restored at the end of the 20th century, it houses the town hall and temporary exhibitions.

Saint-Aubin Church

Highlight • Other

Built on earlier foundations, most of the current historic church building is from 1605, with some vestiges in the western gables remaining of an earlier building destroyed in 1474 by the troups of Charles the Bold.

A beautiful pebble beach at the foot of the chalky cliffs of Criel. To better enjoy your swim or your walk, put on slippers or beach shoes. Your feet will thank you! Dusk and dawn with a sea horizon are a spectacle in themselves.

September 1, 2025,🌟 Radtour zu den Klippen von Criel und Saint-Martin
Our bike tour today took us up and down towards Dieppe. We took short breaks in Criel Plage and Saint-Martin Plage and admired the steep cliffs. The highlight of the tour, however, was our delicious lunch in Petit-Caux. The Renouveau restaurant fulfilled all my wishes for a perfect French lunch 😋.
