Rodebach Cycle Path

Highlight • Cycleway

The Rodebach, which once had its source in the Teveren Heath, now begins at a retention basin near the village of Siepenbusch in the town of Übach-Palenberg. The stream, which is around 29 kilometers long, flows in a northwesterly direction and is mainly used for surface drainage and for flood protection when ice and snow melt. The stream runs north past Teveren in the direction of Gillrath, where it turns west. Along its way, several biotopes and retention basins regulate the even flow of water in the event of flooding. In Stahe, at river kilometer 20.8, the Rodebach takes in the two-kilometer-long Krümmelbach, which drains the airport area near Teveren. The stream then flows west, along the towns of Gangelt and Mindergangelt. This is where the Dutch tributary, the Roode Beek, flows into the river and has its source in the Brunssum Heath. It continues via Süsterseel before passing the towns of Wehr, Tüddern, Millen and Isenbruch to the north. Shortly before the Isenbrucher Mühle, the 12.5-kilometer-long Saeffeler Bach joins it. At the westernmost point of Germany at ♁51° 3′ N, 5° 52′ E, the Rodebach leaves German territory and flows into the Vloedgraaf as the “Roode Beek.”

Very nice little self-service farmer's shop with seating. There is everything from cafés to beer and regional products. Ice cream is even sold in good weather. Everything from the region. Very nice atmosphere and word got around. Lots of activity on weekends
