Railway Workers' Housing Ruins

Highlight • Historical Site

After the civil war, a major project was undertaken to link Madrid with Burgos with the railway. These homes complement the "Lozoyuela prison" since numerous prisoners worked there. These homes were those that belonged to the managers, guards and relatives of the prisoners.

Medio Celemín Tunnel

Highlight • Structure

This abandoned 2,300 meter long railway tunnel is located on the old Madrid-Burgos direct line. This line, inaugurated in 1967, has a tedious construction history, with the first projects emerging at the end of the 20th century. XIX, with several failed plans at the beginning of the s. XX and with its construction beginning in 1928. Currently, this section of track is not used, the trains circulate on another route, which makes passage through this dark tunnel safe, as long as flashlights are used inside it.

Viewpoints of Sierra de la Cabrera

Highlight • Viewpoint

Along our way through the Cañada Real Segoviana near the Sierra de la Cabrera, we began to see it with the Cancho Gordo as a presentation. This track is very beautiful in spring or after a few days of rain, when everything is green.

The Church of the Immaculate Conception is, without a doubt, from a historical and artistic point of view, the most outstanding building in Bustarviejo's cultural heritage.

The comprehensive restoration work carried out on the church in Bustarviejo between 2006 and 2009, financed by the Community of Madrid, reveals the great antiquity of this cultural landmark. Architecturally, the interior has a Latin cross floor plan and three naves separated by semicircular arches, with a large triumphal arch separating the transept from the central nave. This arch rests on the church's only column and a large rectangular pillar. The rear façade features a large apse that projects from the rest of the building.

The tower, dating from the late 15th or early 16th century and considered the oldest element of the building, has a square floor plan. It is constructed of irregular masonry with ashlar at the corners and rests on a masonry base. The atrium features a series of seven smooth-shafted columns joined by a wooden architrave built in the early 17th century (1600-1617).

The archaeological excavation revealed a medieval rock-cut necropolis with rectangular and ovoid pits carved into the rock and covered with granite slabs, as well as an anthropomorphic sarcophagus. In addition, the remains of medieval mural paintings were discovered, of great interest due to their subject matter and age (14th century).

Visigothic Necropolis Tumba del Moro

Highlight • Historical Site

Near the town of La Cabrera we find this Visigoth Necropolis. Dated in the s. VII consists of an anthropomorphic grave and nine simple grave graves, two of which are very similar to each other, stipulating that they belong to a married couple. A curious place to stop.
