Manor House Blankensee

Highlight • Historical Site

The Blankensee manor house, also Sudermann's refuge, built in the Brandenburg Baroque style, with its unity of house and park is an example of the manor house complexes in the 18th and 19th centuries in Brandenburg. It was bought at the beginning of the 20th century by the writer Hermann Sudermann, who transformed the outdoor areas into a historical garden. During his travels in Italy and southern Germany he acquired busts, vases and sculptures that can still be admired in the park today. With its romantic paths and enchanted atmosphere, it is ideal for a short detour on a hike or just a walk.

Kapellenberg (Glauer Hills)

Highlight • Summit

The Kapellenberg is a 79.2 meter high elevation in the Glauer Mountains and thus part of the Nuthe-Nieplitz Nature Park in the Teltow-Fläming district in Brandenburg.

The elevation was formed around 28,000 years ago at the end of the Vistula Ice Age. Between the terminal moraine of the Fläming, the Baruther glacial valley to the south and the northern Berlin glacial valley, rubble, marl and sand were deposited. This material was compressed again after a brief standstill of the glacier, resulting in a compression moraine.

Robinia, but also some lilac and elder bushes grow in the immediate vicinity of the top of the Kapellenberg. The pines, known as cripple pines, are striking, and in earlier times they were surrounded by a peasant forest. The farmers used the pines as litter and pruned the trees, which in the 21st century are sometimes presented in bizarre shapes. Around 150 years ago, there was a chapel on the summit, which gave the elevation its name. There are only a few bricks left of it in the 21st century.

This hike is inspired by the hike from @Matthias S.. A really nice tour through interesting places and the magical Brandenburg nature.
As the game reserve in the Nature Park Center is only open from 12 noon, this section had to be cancelled. Instead, various mountain peaks were climbed, some of which are touched by the F4 Fontane hiking trail. …

Because the weather was good to us, we planned a full hike. Today's walk began in Glau, a small town in Brandenburg. First we went to "Was schmeckt" (What tastes good), a great village organic corner shop. You order your own sandwich with your own choice of toppings. I was a bit overwhelmed because there were so many options (probably …
