The Swedish Stone
In the Helje Forest, on the ridge of the Lahn Hills, not far from the fortifications near Hachborn, stands the "Swedish Stone." It rises only about 60 cm from the ground. Old folks say a Swedish general is buried there. If the stone could talk, it might tell us the following:
The year was 1633. It was a difficult time in the country. The victorious Swedish ruler ruled in southern Germany. One day, imperial troops attempted to attack Marburg. The Marburg residents sent an express messenger to the Swedes for support. The Swedes sent the Blue Regiment under Colonel Axel Eckeström to help. The regiment advanced in forced marches. As the Swedes rode tired and dusty through the Helje Forest toward Marburg, they were ambushed by the Imperial troops. Muffled shots echoed through the silent forest. In a fierce battle, the Swedes routed the enemy. When they gathered their dead, their leader, Axel Eckeström, was among them. They buried him under a large oak tree. The horseman Fred Fredersen, who had once been a stonemason, found a suitable fieldstone and carved a cross and the year 1633 into it. This stone was placed on the fresh grave of the beloved commander.

But perhaps what another oral tradition reports is also true:
During the Thirty Years' War, imperial and Swedish troops repeatedly marched through the Ebsdorf area. In 1633, a dead Swedish soldier was found in the Heljawald forest. The people of Hachborn refused to bury him, but the people of Ebsdorf buried him and erected a memorial stone. In gratitude, they were given the piece of forest that is still considered Ebsdorf property today.
