Hard to believe: The "Cossi" emerged from a dusty coal mine. Up until 1990, the output amounted to 87 million tons of lignite, and the open-cast mine was only shut down after massive demands from the population. In 1993, flooding began with groundwater and water from neighboring opencast mines. By the year 2000, the area was designed as a local recreation area. The Neuseenland with the Cospudener See is an example of the renaturation of the south of Leipzig.

Very nice view. Quiet beach. The only thing that bothers me is maybe the many algae, but it didn't bother me.

June 7, 2022,Rund um die Wolkenfabrik Lippendorf - Die Neuseenland-Tour!

On Whit Tuesday, the beautiful weather was used to explore the Leipzig Neuseenland together with Roller24. We started in Regis-Breitingen and followed the very well signposted circular route in a clockwise direction. The Haselbacher See was reached quickly and the beautiful nature here gave an idea of what was to await us on the further kilometers. We continued to Lucka …

Is it possible to have a headwind on a 100 km round tour on 80 km? Seems like this to me today...

Used the day off to tackle the tour planned for last year. Very scenic but also super developed bike paths. 😉👍

It's actually a loop around the Lippendorf power plant... this circular tour around the new lakes near Leipzig.
But the weather was perfect, and the activity was limited, since it was during the week.
Very nice tour!

The Great Lakes Circuit, as recommended in the tourist booklet, is beautiful, but for me it didn't need to go much further. Mostly first class paths. Signage Poor, only navigable with navigation system and common sense🚴👍

The sun is blazing, so get on your bike and cycle around the lakes. The paths around and through Borna could still be improved a bit, but otherwise it's a lovely tour to explore Leipzig's lake landscape.
