Holstein Moraine Landscape

Highlight • Natural

Quite steep chains of hills separate the individual streams and lakes from each other. The ascent to the 61 m high Mühlenberg is by no means easy. The paths here usually take the heights very directly.

View of Lake Lanker

Highlight • Viewpoint

This lake is particularly distinguished by its abundance of bays. Almost the entire western area from the lakeshore to the railway tracks on the Preetz-Ascheberg line is designated as a nature reserve "Peninsulas and Bays in Lake Lanker".

Lake Lanker is 323.6 hectares in size, up to 21 m deep and lies about 19 m above sea level. It is divided into a larger northern part and a smaller southern part, which are connected by a little more than 1 m deep stream. Without islands, the length of its shoreline is 17 km. Lake Lanker is located in the municipalities of Preetz, Kühren, Wahlstorf and Schellhorn.

View of the lake

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

At this point you have a great view of Lake Wielen. However, there are many hungry mosquitoes. It is best to wear long clothes and use mosquito repellent first. But the view and the way along the lake is worthwhile!

The 1/2 km long path over marshy meadows leads close to nature between a double row of birch trees.
There is also a great bathing spot in the Schwentine with a jetty, bench and entry ladder.

August 27, 2023,Schwentine - hinter Plön werden die Seen schmaler
But it's still not a river.

However: I couldn't really check that because I mainly saw the Schwentineseen from afar. If any. But the landscape is still pretty. Pretty wavy. A bit too much ashpalt in between, but you could ignore that.

Schwentine sighted today in the following lakes:
Large Plöner See
Small Plöner See
Fuhlensee
