Urban Beehive in Syrenie Stawy, Szczecin

The authorities of Szczecin have decided to build the first municipal hive in Szczecin in 2020. It was created in a dead tree trunk in Syrenich Stawy.
The hive in Szczecin was created thanks to the efforts of municipal foresters. A recess for bees carved in a tree trunk, used to breed these insects since at least the Middle Ages, appeared in the park at Syrenich Stawy in 2020 right next to the main asphalt alley. This place seems to be ideal for bees, as there is a plot of honey plants nearby, such as goldenrod or black locust.
The huge trunk in which the bees lived was brought to Szczecin by foresters from another place, and the bees that lived in the beehive were delivered by the beekeeper Zdzisław Baran. It is he and the foresters who take care of these insects. The area around the beehives has been fenced.
