Town Hall in Grodków - a classicist building on the market square of Grodków, erected in 1840. The first town hall was built at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. In later times, the building was destroyed in fires and rebuilt several times. In 1577, the tower that still stands was erected, and in 1668 it was covered with a cupola. In the years 1833 and 1836 the tower was renovated. In 1833 the building burned down in a huge fire in the city. The present town hall was built in 1840 using a tower that survived the fire. As a result of warfare in 1945, the town hall was destroyed. It was rebuilt in 1948. After the war, the building was renovated several times.

Ziębice Gate Tower in Grodków

Highlight • Historical Site

The Ziębice Tower is one of the two surviving (out of the original four) gate towers of Grodków. Built in the mid-14th century and transformed around 1600, it has retained both Gothic and Renaissance architectural features. The city of Grodków in 1344 became the property of Wrocław bishops and became the capital of the Duchy of Grodków. At that time, thanks to the efforts of bishop Przecław from Pogorzela, four gate towers were erected, including the Ziębice Gate Tower on the western side of the wall ring. Around 1600, the tower was raised and received a Renaissance attic. Further work on the building took place in 1866 and in the 20th century.
