Old Ski Lift – Kalteck

Highlight • Structure

Ski lift is still standing. The slope is still clearly visible. Elevator has been out of service for a long time. A pity. Skiing has always been nice up here.

Riedberg

Highlight • Forest

There's no summit cross, and the numerous rock formations make it difficult to identify the actual summit of this mountain. Riedberg is located in the middle of the forest, so there's no view.

April 13, 2024,PMH-174 — vom Kalteck zum Rauher Kulm, Klausenstein und Hirschenstein
Hike from the Kalteck hiking car park to Rauher Kulm, Klausenstein and Hirschenstein. The hiking trail (from Klausenstein to Hirschenstein) was unfortunately somewhat damaged by forestry work. However, the notice at the Kalteck hiking car park about the closure of the hiking trail was apparently lifted over the weekend.

After a long break from hiking due to illness, we went (still with a runny nose) from the Kalteck hiking car park to the Rauher Kulm and then on to the Hirschenstein. As I said... we weren't quite fit yet... but we still had to make the most of the sunny weather.
The paths were a mix of frozen hiking …

To start the new year, another one of my favorite tours in the Bavarian Forest. And since the two summit crosses have also been replaced, it's actually a MUST 😉
When we arrived, it looked as if the entire mountain ridge was covered in deep fog - but that was far from the case. The weather …

A small forest walk with wet feet for the two of us 🚶🏼‍♀️🐕...it rained almost the whole time 🌧...sometimes more, sometimes less 🙉.
But it was beautiful anyway 🥰.

Because of the sun it wasn't as cold as expected..so packed up the child and a hiking friend and let's go. From Kalteck up to the Rauen Kulm. Beautiful forest, great paths (no forest paths!) Great view, best weather. It was cold but just right. Many climbing opportunities for young and old. There was also time to sunbathe 😎.

Used the day off today for a tour in the front Bavarian Forest 😉
Many thanks to Bianca and Dieter for the template 🙏
About 100m after the hiking car park in Kalteck, turn left (Image 1) in the direction of Rauher Kulm. After a restrained but steady ascent you reach the summit with a fantastic view. The path then …
