Gravel section on Colorado County Road 18

At this section the Yampa River winds through a beautiful valley on its way to Stagecoach reservoir. Along the river you can find a well maintained gravel road with a nice wild west feeling.

This is a good spot to park and explore excellent fly fishing and explore beautiful gravel roads along the river! You did need to buy a daily use permit but well worth it (around $8).

Stagecoach Reservoir

Highlight • Lake

Great gravel trail around Stagecoach Reservior. Gravel road access from Catamount, via County Road 18 from the north. Park pass is required at Stagecoach State Park.

Stagecoach Reservoir is nestled in the mountains and is a really nice plays to ride your bike. There's a multi use trail following the southern lakeside with impressive views into the surrounding mountains. If you want to go for a swim, stop at one of the southern coves (Pike Cove or Morrison Cove) or at the western part of the lake. Here are the so called 'no Wake zones' where swimming is allowed.

Sandy Creek Trailhead and Gravel Section (County Road 18)

Gravel road with seasonal closure to motorized vehicles. Road follows along the Yampa River to Stagecoach Reservoir at Stagecoach State Park. Entering the park at the hydroelectric dam on the north side of the lake. Park pass is required for all entering the park.
