Former railway station water tower

Highlight • Structure

This water tower was built in the German, imperial period, and it's quite a sight - no wonder they call it the water castle! It forms a nice ensemble with the nearby train station, in the same style.

The Serpenoise Gate is an important element of the fortifications of the city of Metz. It was built in 1852 by the inhabitants of Metz on the ruins of the Scarponne Gate, along the axis of a Roman road.

The route back along the Canal de Jouy is very bumpy. It's a narrow path in places, with lots of tree roots. Next time, I'd prefer to cycle along this section, like I did on the outward journey, along the Moselle.

Nice as a ballad. Possibility to continue on Pont à Mousson & Nancy.
