Cuomo Bridge Bike Path

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Separate bike/pedestrian way since June 2020. While I didn't like the surface in the beginning, it got better over time. There is a 15 mph speed limit for bikes.

20.1 km

This section of the New York State Bike Route is a popular stretch, especially around the Tappan Zee Bridge. It attracts many cyclists on weekends.

Bike Route 9 Entrance to Piermont

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Probably the easiest way to get into/out of Piermont, especially when trying to avoid the steep climb at Tallman Mountain. The intersection at which Bike Route 9 leaves the 9W can be a bit tricky to navigate on the way down.

9W Market

Highlight • Cafe

On this side of the Hudson River you can enjoy nature, but there are few opportunities to strengthen yourself. However, there is both a small shop and a burger joint here. Friendly service, good food and even vegan on request.

Climb up to Alpine

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

No separate bike path, but (mostly) broad shoulders. On weekends, this part of the road is packed with bikes.

Joseph Clark Rail Trail South of Sparkill

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

As of June 2024, this stretch of rail trail is rather smooth with the exception of some cracking and bumps here and there. Felt fine on 25mm road tires — the whole rail trail is very rideable.

Downtown Piermont

Highlight • Settlement

Charming little town. Haven't dined there yet, but looks like there are some awesome places for a mid-ride snack.
