Lake Bohinj

Highlight • Lake

Lake Bohinj, Slovenia
An oasis of peace and unspoiled nature in the Julian Alps and Triglav National Park.
Bohinj is a heavenly valley in the heart of the Julian Alps. Lake Bohinj lies in the heart of Triglav National Park, one of the oldest national parks in Europe. Untouched alpine pastures and mighty peaks rise above Slovenia's largest natural lake.

Parking lots overcrowded. Coming early and coming from Bled take the last section over the hinterland, not to drive directly to the lake, there like traffic mess

There the round starts around the lake. In the beginning really not suitable for pushchairs. Not even for our original jogger me big wheels. Better take Kraxe

First of all ... with the bike you can not drive directly to the highlight.
You meet no matter which side of the lake you come from, at some point on a large parking lot, here's schonmal if you want a little refreshment and toilets.
It's best to join the bikes right away and continue on foot.
Shortly thereafter, you meet (what a miracle 😅) on a small ticket booth ... for 3 Euronen inlet duty you can then continue the way and walk up step by step.
The waterfall
itself is divided into two parts ... the big falls from 78 meters to the valley and the smaller one from 25 meters high.
Even if you read on some websites (like me as well) ... that you can swim there..mmmh..maybe before our time, but unfortunately this is not the (water) case.
I wish you a lot of fun anschauen.

Nice lake for swimming, sup-boarding or whatever you feel like doing. There is a lot of sunbathing area available, partly also shady places under trees. But the lake is also very well visited.

September 18, 2022,Slap Savica-Bohinjsko jezero-Stara Fužina
The 3-day rainy season and other indispositions are finally over. So lace up your shoes and set off for a short Sunday walk to the nearby waterfall, back via the northern shore of the lake to Stara Fužina and the same way back. We avoided the route along the south bank of the road, as there was quite a lot …

Can be done even in rainy weather. Go there by bus, then through Ukanc to the waterfall and back along the lake. Pure relaxation. It's a good idea to start early so that it's not too crowded at the waterfall.

The seventh stage is relatively short and leads through alpine meadows from Stara Fruzina to Bohinje Bistrica. We followed the recommendation to do this stage by bus and use the time for a short hike around Lake Bohinjsko and up to the Savica waterfall.
The waterfall can only be reached at the end of the hiking trail via approx. 550 …

Today we went to the Savica double waterfall. We started in Ribčev Laz and the path led along the Bohinjsko jezero to the Ukanc campsite. From there we took the bus to the start of the climb to the waterfall. There were then over 500 steps to climb to the waterfall. We then went back to Ribčev Laz from the …

We walked counter-clockwise on the way to the waterfall, which is better. First you go to the lake or directly above it and can enjoy the water. Afterwards continue to the waterfall, which is really worthwhile. When you have all the water, you can fill it up at the entrance. The other side of the lake isn't that interesting, but …

This tour was uniquely beautiful and can only be recommended. It is well suited for active hikers and the difficulty is also easy to master .... so let's go and have a great hiking experience.

Did the walk with the youngest daughter in the buggy. Was a challenge, but luckily I got help every now and then. Because it was already late and there were no more buses to Ukanc, I started walking the normal way back, and got a lift from a friendly family. The last part to the waterfall is only a few …

After yesterday's traffic-free journey, today's first short hike took place 😉
The tour takes you along beautiful paths by the lake and through forests. The highlight was definitely the Savica waterfall, which also had plenty of water. To get there, however, you had to climb a few meters over many steps. But it was absolutely worth it.
