Petworth House and Park

Highlight • Natural

Petworth is a village that plays host to the 17th-century stately home Petworth House and its magnificent deer park. The famous landscape architect Lancelot 'Capability' Brown designed the grounds.

Whilst the pleasure gardens and house require advance booking, the 700-acre (283 ha) park does not. Here you can see the largest fallow deer herd in England.

Petworth Deer Park

Highlight • Forest

Petworth Deer Park is a stunning country parkland that boasts ancient oak trees, scenic ponds, stunning architecture and, of course, a magnificent herd of fallow deer that has roamed the land for half a century. Hailed as one of the finest surviving and unspoilt examples of an English landscape, the parkland was designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown in the 18th century.
