Carlo V Tower

Highlight • Historical Site

Torre Carlo V is located in Martinsicuro, on the border with the Municipality of San Benedetto del Tronto, just before the bridge over the Tronto River. It is located along the Adriatica state road, in a point visible from the road, but quite busy. The structure represents a watchtower with the customs building next to it. The Tower, as reported, today houses the Legambiente Scuola Blu environmental education center and the headquarters of the Castrum Truentinum Antiquarium archaeological museum. The Tower cannot be visited during set entry times and unfortunately there is no information outside. It hosts events and I believe it can be visited on certain occasions.

Made in bronze, in 1982, by the Battaglia Artistic Foundry of Milan. The mermaid welcomes those passing by and by taking a tour of the town you will notice that it has become the symbol of Tortoreto. In fact, the name "mermaid" is present on the signs of restaurants, beaches and hotels.
