The Laguna del Mort, located between Eraclea Mare and the mouth of the Piave river, is a biotope of extraordinary beauty born in 1935 following the natural diversion of the Piave river during a flood. This body of brackish water, separated from the sea by an imposing cordon of sandy dunes and a dense pine forest, is a paradise for birdwatching and for those seeking pristine nature. Considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy by Legambiente, the area is characterized by calm waters and shallow depths, an ideal habitat for numerous species of migratory birds. A place of wild charm and devoid of establishments, it represents a precious example of an Adriatic coastal ecosystem that has survived urbanization.
