Parish Garden Königsbrunn

Highlight • Natural

A nice place to stay with many facets. At the forefront is the bus stop, which offers protection from rain and wind for students/commuters/cyclists. Followed by the beautiful parish garden, which is a prime example of biodiversity (nature in the garden, bee meadow, free-range chickens, etc.). This is managed by the parish of Königsbrunn and the Grünzeug association.

Kellergasse Königsbrunn

Highlight • Historical Site

A harmonious ensemble of press houses is presented to pilgrims and visitors in Königsbrunner Kellergasse. The cellar lane "Am Bromberg" climbs slowly up the Wagram and enchants wine lovers with historical press houses that were dug deep into the loess of the Wagram. Time loses its effect here - exactly the right place to collect yourself and draw new strength.

Parish Church of Königsbrunn am Wagram

Highlight • Religious Site

The Jakobsweg Weinviertel leads through our parish. The church is open to pilgrims during the day. The pilgrim's stamp is in the Peace Chapel by the cemetery.

The church was built in the middle of the village on a hill of the Wagram. There was previously a Gothic chapel on the current site of the church. The church was built over the well that gave the place its name. The originally baroque hall was built in 1755/1757 by the master builder Josef Koch from Krems, then extended in 1898 and expanded in 1936 into a cross-shaped complex with a round apse and tower. The church was a branch of Kirchberg am Wagram at the time of construction and was elevated to a parish church in 1783. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist consecrated. The south facade is designed in a late historical style with staggered pilasters and arched windows. The tower has narrow arched windows and a pyramid helmet. Shortly after the Second World War (1947) E. Peter painted the church with biblical scenes: The Annunciation, St. Joseph in his workshop, escape from Egypt, last supper, fishing for Peter, healing of the blind. In 1983 the church was extensively restored.
