At ten o'clock, I leave the campsite in Arvier. I turn right and follow the main road past several castles and small villages in the valley. The road climbs slightly, and soon I'm riding towards the foot of the Col du Grand Saint Bernard, a climb of no less than 34 kilometers. One of the longest I've ever ridden.
