Great Beguinage of Leuven (UNESCO World Heritage Site)

Highlight • Historical Site

The Groot Begijnhof of Leuven, also known as Begijnhof Ten Hove, is a well-preserved and fully restored historic quarter of about ten streets in the south of the city centre, located on Schapenstraat, not far from Porte de Namur. It is one of the largest surviving beguinages in Flanders with a built-up area of approximately 3 ha. The Dyle flows straight through the courtyard and splits into two arms (plus a connecting ditch), over which there are a total of three bridges.
The beguinage dates from the 13th century. During its heyday in the 17th century, about 360 beguines lived there.
In 1998, the Groot Begijnhof, together with 12 other Flemish beguinages, was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can visit it for free.

Finnish Track

Highlight • Trail

A Finnish track is a special running course for joggers: to improve walking comfort, the top layer consists of a springy layer. The soft, damping top layer provides a pleasant walking feeling and prevents injuries better: the resilient effect of the top layer means that the joints are subjected to considerably less stress while walking.

Arenberg Castle Park

Highlight • Castle

A very beautiful park, relaxing and wonderfully quiet. Perfect for a nice short walk or run. The architecture is still so beautiful and perfectly preserved. This place is definitely worth a detour!
