Naviglio Grande Cycle Path: Trezzano sul Naviglio – Gaggiano

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

Segment of the Naviglio Grande cycle path between Trezzano S/N and Gaggiano.
Note: the segment is constructed in such a way that it can be traveled independently of the possible roads that can be followed in Trezzano and Gaggiano when traveling along the Naviglio cycle path.

Naviglio di Bereguardo

Highlight • River

The Naviglio di Bereguardo was built in the mid-15th century at the behest of the Duke of Milan Filippo Maria Visconti. For around 400 years this was the route by which goods coming from the sea reached Milan: going up the Po' and part of the Ticino to Pavia and then being transported by land until they reached this canal and sailed again to the city. Today the canal is used mainly for irrigation but is also a destination for many cyclists who appreciate the tranquility and quality of the cycle path of the same name which runs for about twenty kilometers along the western bank of the canal.

Interesting meeting point and bypass of different watercourses of the complex irrigation system of the countryside. The ancient stone bypasses and the granite water diversion barriers with iron inserts for the diversion of water flows are beautiful.

Naviglio Grande

Highlight • River

The Naviglio Grande was born as a defensive structure towards the beginning of the 12th century but it took another hundred years before it was transformed into a navigable waterway and reached Milan near Porta Ticinese. The Naviglio soon became a fundamental connection to Milan, goods of all kinds traveled along it. The marble for the construction of the Cathedral also arrived from the quarry on Lake Maggiore in Milan following the course of the Naviglio Grande. Today the transport barges have been replaced by the canoes of enthusiasts while a cycle/pedestrian path that runs along the embankment connects Milan and Abbiategrasso allowing pedestrians and cyclists a bit of fun while avoiding traffic.

November 12, 2024,Turbolento Thinkbike - 3_Carpe Diem 70km 🍺🍺
On paper it seemed like one of the simplest and most insignificant tracks and instead, thanks to its endless dirt roads, it turned out to be really very nice. A small piece off the grid between weeds, Smurfs and mushrooms but then everything was really very beautiful (but even the unexpected is beautiful) The only problem, a nice big dog …

A great classic made in good company, better than that ...
And cool but beautiful day !! 👌

Nice classic ride, done in the other direction a few weeks ago, always pleasant in company.
Gravel sections, some single tracks with a lot of vegetation (given the season) and country roads around the Abbey.

Nice ride with L in known areas, post intervention cat. Missing a convalescent, still positive ... 😠
Gravel and country lanes, beautiful breezy day, returned before the afternoon heat wave!

Nice journey by Turbulent, already done alone in another season, this time with Silvia and Paolo.
Not a cold gray day, lots of dirt roads and the best season to avoid the summer forests of plants and brambles.

October 15, 2023,Avventura dammi il 5!
Solo in the South park, excellent lap stolen from Trubolento.
Many known but not traveled sections for a while, some new sections, gravel and quiet country roads.
First morning mist, then immediately the usual pain in the ass free dog that threatens to bite me without doing so.
So more than 1 km of wet bushes force me to walk …

Afternoon and evening ride after an intense morning ride, felt a bit more tired but still with the will of pushing and exploring some new gravel roads, the road became very technical approaching Motta Visconti's area with tricky singletracks and some sand. For the rest I had fun and enjoyed exploring these new tracks
