Easy road ride. Great for any fitness level. Mostly well-paved surfaces and easy to ride. The starting point of the route is right next to a parking lot.

Verdeta Towers

Highlight • Historical Site

The construction of the building dates back to the first half of the 16th century. The building, with a central plan, was built on a project by the architect Sesastre Castaldi. A few hundred meters away there is the rural building, built in the 18th century, called Corte Verdeta, formerly owned by the Duke of Modena Francesco IV. Next to it stands the oratory of San Gaetano, built in 1771.
The structure was owned by the Castaldi family, then by the Cantuti Castelvetri family, to which the marble coat of arms in the center of the structure belongs, until it became a possession of the Duke of Modena. The hamlet of San Pietro in Elda, once called Verdeta, was part of the possessions of the Duke of Modena. In 1737 the villa became the property of the Sassi family and finally by inheritance, in 1832 to the Marquis Giacomo Munarini.
Over the centuries, the Verdeta Towers have had both a military function of controlling the territory as a lookout tower and a remittance function to store grain and wheat.
In more recent times the rooms behind it have been used as a stable and subsequently as a shelter for agricultural tools. Now the villa lies in total abandonment, and was hit by the 2012 earthquake
