The M24 Chaffee was a light American tank from the Second World War that was designed and classified as a reconnaissance tank. It was also used as a battle tank by various user states. It was the successor to the Stuart tank and went into series production in 1944. The Chaffee was air-transportable and is considered the first real light tank in the world.
