Hohenfelder Damm, Hahnheide Nature Reserve

Highlight • Trail

This listed Kofstein cobblestone route runs straight through the Hahnheide and connects Hohenfelde and Trittau. The sandy strip at the edge is relatively easy to drive on. I would rather avoid the cobblestone itself unless you want to put your bike through a material test.

Napoleon Bridge, Trittau

Highlight • Bridge

The Napoleon Bridge is a single-arch natural stone bridge with a massive parapet that runs along the Alte Möllner Straße over the Mühlenbach. It was built between 1805 and 1808 and, like the structurally identical bridges in Steinbek and Reinbek, served to secure the border between the then Duchy of Holstein and Sachsen-Lauenburg, which was under the English crown.
There is no documentary evidence that Napoleon once crossed it. The name should have grown more popular.
The bridge is a cultural monument and is closed to motor vehicle traffic. It has been a listed building since 1971.

Trittau Water Mill

Highlight • Monument

In the heart of Trittau's historic center, bordering the Hahnheide nature reserve, lies the watermill with its millpond. It is Trittau's landmark and is now used as a cultural center.

The current mill building was constructed in 1701, but a water-powered grain mill has been documented at this location since the 16th century. However, the mill site itself is much older. Shortly after Trittau Castle was built in 1327, the mills surrounding the castle were likely constructed as well. These included the water-powered grain mill and a sawmill,
which no longer exists.

The mill ceased operation in 1963. Until 1973, the Stoltenberg company ran an agricultural supply business here, after which the municipality of Trittau acquired the building. In 1976, the mill was listed as a cultural monument.

Here the Trittauer Mühlenbach is dammed up to the mill pond,
who used to drive the water mill.
From the bridge you have beautiful views of the historic water mill and the mill pond.

Trittau Old Train Station

Highlight • Historical Site

The Bad Oldesloe-Trittau-Schwarzenbek railway line was opened on August 1st, 1887. Only the former station building with the attached goods shed and the station forecourt are still reminiscent of the former Trittau railway connection.
In 1976 the passenger traffic on the railway line was stopped, in 1981 the freight traffic. Today the bike path to Bad Oldesloe or Glinde is located on the former railway line, which is great for biking or hiking.

Section of the Glinde–Trittau Cycle Path

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

The entire bike trail Glinde Trittau is highly recommended. I did not drive through the forest on this tour because it was already very late. Behind the forest I took it further through the fields. Scenic very beautiful and great to drive. Ideal to "make a stretch" for both cyclists and mountain bikers.
