The route led through picturesque landscapes, past idyllic villages and through dense forests. The starting point was the charming little town of Apolda in Thuringia. From there you cycle on well-developed cycle paths towards Naumburg.

After about half the route I reached the town of Bad Kösen, known for its idyllic location on the Saale.
