Premiere of the HILLESHEIMER KRIMITAGE in 2021:
From September 16 to 19, 2021, the "Hillesheimer Krimitage" will take place for the first time in the crime capital Hillesheim with a varied program. (...) The crime writer [and publisher] Ralf Kramp is also a co-initiator.
"In the future, the idea is to have the Hillesheimer Krimitage take place annually alternately with Tatort Eifel," explain Mayor Hans Peter Böffgen and tourism expert Manfred Schmitz.

Hillesheim City Wall

Highlight • Monument

The imposing, old city wall of the medieval town of Hillesheim dates from the 13th century and was very well renovated in the course of the city center renovation.

The fortification was first destroyed by the French in 1689, and then by the British Army in 1705.
So it took a few centuries until the present city wall with a few towers was repaired from the few remains of the city wall.

You can walk on the battlements and have a wonderful view over the Kylltal and the landscape.

Bolsdorf, St. Margaret Chapel

Highlight • Religious Site

Bolsdorf Chapel of St. Margaretea

The first chapel was built around 1500, the altar was consecrated in 1505. The current building from the 17th century was provided with a new choir in 1882 and an enlarged nave.
The pretty chapel is St. Dedicated to Margareta.

Parish Patron:

St. Margarethe, the patroness of the branch chapel in Bolsdorf, was executed as a martyr at Antioch in Pisidia in 305 during the persecution of Christians. She is counted among the 14 helpers in need and belongs to St. Catherine and St. Barabara to the "three holy girls". As in Bolsdorf, she is portrayed as a virgin with a martyr's crown, a palm tree and St. Book.

Feast day: July 20th.

June 17, 2025,Von Hillesheim nach Hillesheim über Gerolstein
A beautiful tour in beautiful scenery. The start in Hillesheim was a bit difficult due to construction work in the town center.
The route from Hillesheim to Gerolstein is a bit challenging. There are some steep climbs at times (no problem with a pedelec), but then there are also some lovely longer descents.
Stop for a break in Gerolstein at …
