Devil's Rock SW of Alkofen - geotope number: 273R010
Approximately 200 m long and 60 m high rock face in massive reef limestone on the former Danube slope. The rock consists of massive sponge-algal reef limestone with transitions to Kelheimer Kalk (fossil rubble limestone). A rock fall occurred in the southern part of the rock, which is riddled with caves.

Matting Danube Ferry

Highlight • Bridge

What a nice way to cross the Danube! The current of the river will take you to the other side, controlled only by a rope. Simple and yet terrific.

Note that the ferrymen take a lunch break from 12 noon to 1 p.m. You can find out the current ferry times and prices here: pentling.de/freizeit-kultur/#faehre

Today 🚴 our journey from Kelheim to Regensburg began. Upon arrival, we checked into the hotel. Unfortunately 😒 it didn't have air conditioning. Now, freshly showered, we explored beautiful Regensburg.

Our arrival in Regensburg by train was significantly delayed. On the short trip to Kelheim, we experienced light rain at times.

From Regensburg to Kehlheim always along the Danube. In Großprüfening there is a great beer garden with delicious food. Accommodation in Kelheim" zum Weißen Lamm.

After 6 stages we reached our destination Regensburg. We started around 300 km away in Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
I can really recommend the Altmühltal cycle path. Good paths, beautiful views and lots of places where you can take a break.

After a rainy night, it was much cooler today than in the last few days. There were also lots of puddles on the still very easy riverbank and dam paths. Bikes, shoes and trousers therefore looked like they had been in a cross-country race in the afternoon. A nice crispy pork knuckle was waiting for us in Regensburg. :-)

Comfortable cycle path along the Danube. Just let it flow.

Just a short tour this time. The afternoon was then available for Regensburg. Halfway there was a detour that somehow ended in nowhere. Surely we weren't smart enough. Detours in the Netherlands for cyclists are better. There was a jazz festival in Regensburg, now it was clear to me why it was difficult to get rooms.
