Kobersfelsen

Highlight • Natural Monument

The footbridge leads around the Kobersfelsen directly on the water. It is really a wonderful hiking trail. If you have time, take a short detour up the Kobersfelsen. From up there you have a great view.

The way is now blocked by a grid. Reason: A 2m wide section of the path was destroyed by falling rocks.

The lake is 28 km long and has a water volume of 215 million m³. The dam was built between 1926 and 1932 for flood protection and to generate energy. It is 205 meters long, 65 meters high and 47 meters wide at the base. It is located in the northernmost part between the Bleiberg mountains. The reservoir got its name from these mountains.

Bleiloch Dam

Highlight • Monument

The 65-meter-high and 205-meter-long gravity dam built between 1926 and 1932 near Gräfenwarth and Schleiz dams 215 million cubic meters of water in the Saale. This makes the Bleilochtalsperre the largest reservoir in Germany in terms of volume.

Ice Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

From the ice bridge that leads over the Burgkhammer dam, you have a great view of the water and the picturesque castle, which once belonged to the Princes of Reuss. Today it is open as a museum and well worth a stop that will take you back to the glorious times of the nobility.

The hanging path on the Koberfelsen was closed. The detour had an alpine character on the descent. The parking lot, with a daily fee and the Saaleturm entrance fee of €2 each, were reasonably priced. The surrounding forests had been severely damaged by bark beetles and had been cut down accordingly.

The hike can also be called the impossible tour. The stretch between Kobersfelsen and Eisbrücke is actually closed. Unfortunately only from the direction of the Eisbrücke. In the other direction, a wire entanglement is supposed to keep the hiker from stepping on the 150m long footbridge below the rock face of the Kobersfelsen.
Unfortunately, adventurous people had removed the obstacle …
