Today my hike took me through the Geiseltal valley, where Lake Runstedt is also located. It lies in the immediate vicinity of Lake Geiseltal, in Saxony-Anhalt.

Lake Runstedt is a remnant of the Großkayna open-cast lignite mine. It takes its name from the village of Runstedt, which had to make way for the mine in 1929.
