Stroudwater Navigation

Highlight • Trail

A charming route into or through Stroud that avoids the traffic. You need to take it steady as it can get narrow in placesand there are always plenty of walkers. It is mostly OK for all bikes, but can get a little muddy and slippery in winter in places, so might be best avoided on narrow tyres at such times.

A lovely spot to stop for a break or even a picnic on the lane between Frocester and Coaley. Views across the Severn Vale from one end of the churchyard and the Cotswold Hills at the other.

The Back Passage Road

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

A little known and travelled route between Cambridge and Coaley. A great way to access the lanes around Coaley, Cam, Dursley and even Uley. It also provides a shortcut from the A38 to Cam & Dursley train station.

Longaston Lane

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

A good and very quiet lane that links Slimbridge and Cambridge. It means you can avoid what is probably the worst part of the A38 in this area or you can join the canal towpath to Frampton if you're on a more rugged bike... which is also OK on most road bikes in the summer... but that's subjective!

Lightenbrook Lane

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

A good shortcut if heading to or from Gossington towards the canal.

Field Lane Climb

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

A nice quiet lane to get to Cam (or even to Wotton-Under-Edge) that provides a punchy little climb.

A mere blip, but will probably get you out of your saddle.
