Bormio Old Town

Highlight • Settlement

Bormio is a fairly well-known winter sports resort. What makes Bormio extremely likeable, however, is the fact that this small town has completely retained its idyllic atmosphere. No sign of sophisticated, artificial hotels. Instead, there are many small, cozy accommodations where Mama Leone herself is still in the kitchen and the owner tries to engage you in conversation while he looks after your bike - in Italian, of course. The cozy, authentic old town immediately puts you in a vacation feeling. The only thing that takes a little getting used to is the (also extremely authentic) Italian relaxed atmosphere - the town only really comes to life in the afternoon.

Racing is really a big thing in Bormio! Otherwise, there would hardly be a real road bike café in the small town. Everything revolves around the racing bike here. Even the lamps are built from old wheels and the books in the reading corner are only an issue. A pretty cool place for the coffee or snack after the tour and of course mountain bikers are also very welcome.

Incidentally, the cafe is part of "Stelvio Experience", a local rental bike, guided tour and shuttle service provider. Should you have any need: Here you are guaranteed to get all the info.

Opening hours:
Monday to Saturday: 7.30am to 9.30am and 3pm to 10pm
Sunday: 17 to 22 o'clock

So the evening can end: again just up to the mountain, enjoy the beautiful view and a rapid descent and finally order the classic of all Italian dishes: a thin, crispy, delicious pizza!

Bormio 2000

Highlight • Settlement

A ski resort in Alta Valtellina, Bormio 2000 is a town where you can find hotels and restaurants open all year round, sporting goods shops and ski schools. A comfortable cable car arrives here from Bormio and another takes you even higher, towards Bormio 3000 and Cima Bianca. The asphalt climb towards Bormio 2000 is also very popular with the many people who cycle here: it measures almost ten kilometers and has an average gradient of 7.6%. In 2004, a stage of the Giro d'Italia arrived in Bormio 2000: it was one of the four stage victories of Damiano Cunego, who that year took the pink jersey to Milan.
