Luitpold Linden Tree and Luitpold Monument in the Village Center

Highlight • Natural Monument

Location: In front of the parish church of St. Vitus

The massive old village linden tree in front of it is 400 years old, or even more, and a natural monument. In 1911, it was already condemned to death and was slated for felling: it was deemed "hollow and rotten through and through" and therefore "a public danger." But it has now outlived its death sentence by 90 years and, together with the Luitpold Monument and the church tower behind it, forms a distinctive centerpiece of the village. Circumference: 3.6 m (approximate, date not given). - In the forum topic "Dancing Linden Trees and Guided Linden Trees," it is listed in list no. 153 (link below). - 2022: Circumference at a height of 70 cm: 4.81 m, at a height of 60 cm: 4.59 m.
You simply have to see it, the great linden tree; I was impressed.

Steigerwald Treetop Walk

Highlight • Viewpoint

Absolutely worthwhile is a visit to the treetop trail. Suitable for big and small (also with stroller). The construction alone is worth seeing. Definitely also a detour to the info center to Handthal make (nice walk through the forest, suitable for strollers, also possible by bicycle)

Gerolzhofen Old Town Hall

Highlight • Historical Site

The old town hall of Gerolzhofen is a striking, three-storey building with Gothic stepped gables. It was built in 1475 with a "kitchen building" set back to the south and was used from 1585 for "court and feast feasts" by the councilors. The ground floor was once the market hall, today the "army room" for the city's receptions. Since 1984 Stadtmuseum Altes Rathaus, including the 1st Bavarian School Museum. The heart of the city museum is the permanent exhibition "Global success of the sewing machine - from the poor little tailor to the clothing factory".

Highlight • Religious Site

The shaft is decorated with acanthus and fruit plant. He stands on a table pedestal. The top relief shows the pilgrimage miracle of the Fourteen Saints, a very detailed relief.

For documentation on this rainy weekend 😉

That was nothing twice: Google promised ☕ and 🍰 until 5:30 p.m. and the fortune tellers from the weather service expected the 🌤️ from 6 p.m.
In fact, it looked like I pressed my nose against the window to the closed café at 10:55 (where the last crumbs were just being swept off …
