KLINGENBERG’S VILLA

The imposing country house is said to have been built in 1913 by the engineer Georg Klingenberg, together with his father, the Privy Councillor Ludwig Klingenberg. The property covers approximately 52,200m². The property served as a meeting place for the entire Klingenberg family, who at that time owned extensive land on the western shore of Lake Zwischahn. After Georg Klingenberg’s death in 1925, his widowed wife continued to live in the building, but had to hand it over to the Wehrmacht during World War II. During World War II, it served, among other things, as an officers’ mess for the air base to the north, and later as an officers’ mess for the medical staff of the Bundeswehr hospital built next door.
