Fischbach Hut

Highlight • Mountain Hut

This shelter is named after the historic forest town of Fischbach.

Our shelters in the Harz National Park are usually located in places worth seeing and are therefore popular hiking destinations. They serve as a short-term rest and break option and as protection in the event of bad weather. Overnight stays are only permitted in an emergency. In the interest of everyone, whether human or animal, our shelters must be kept clean.

The upper reaches of the Sieber, where it is still a small stream, flow through the Harz National Park. This section is a completely natural streambed of rocks and stones, with a gradient of up to 10 percent in places. The middle reaches follow; the Sieber has grown into a small river and has left the national park. The river now enters a wide, flat valley, where the town of Sieber nestles along the river. This idyllic Harz community takes its name from the river.

The middle reaches of the Sieber then continue to Herzberg. This section of the Sieber constitutes the actual Sieber Valley and is approximately 10 km long, making it an excellent hiking destination.
