The Plön Water Tower is located in the east of the town of Plön on Scharweg. The water tower was built in 1913 according to plans by the Bremen engineer Carl Franke. Stylistically, it is classified as late Art Nouveau or Reform Architecture. After its closure in 1974, it was initially scheduled for demolition, but in 1977 it became one of the first industrial and technical monuments to be listed as a historical monument in Schleswig-Holstein.

The Behler See is a lake in Holstein Switzerland. It lies between Timmdorf in the east and the town of Plön in the west. In the east it flows into the Langensee and in the west into the Höftsee. The Schwentine river flows through all of these lakes from east to west.

Here you can go swimming in the water. The shore has almost the quality of a sandy beach. From here you can also swim from one lake to the other 😊

View of Lake Dieksee

Highlight • Viewpoint

Dieksee nestles to the west of Malente and is a good starting point for excursions in the region.

The Dieksee is located west of Malente, is about 386 hectares in size and is crossed from east to west by the Schwentine, which also feeds it. In addition to Malente, the towns of Timmdorf and Niederkleveez are also located on the lake. The Dieksee promenade winds along the shore in Malente, inviting holidaymakers to take leisurely strolls. Numerous hotels and health clinics line up here and offer a fantastic view of the water and the Dieksee islands of Langenwarder and Gremswarder. Active holidaymakers also get their money's worth at Dieksee, as there are a variety of sporting activities in, on and by the water.

Dieksee Promenade

Highlight • Trail

The Dieksee promenade takes you from the Malente Wildlife Park to the Diekseeholm forest.

The Dieksee promenade runs along the western shore of the 368-hectare Dieksee lake. Here you will find many of Malente's hotels, guesthouses, and health clinics.
Redesigned in 2007, the promenade consists partly of paved stone slabs and partly of hard-packed sand. During the construction work, a floating pontoon for events was installed near the pier for the 5-Lakes Cruise and Kellersee Cruise. An additional wooden walkway was also added to the promenade. Terraced platforms have been integrated along the embankment, offering a particularly beautiful view of the Dieksee.

The route runs almost entirely along the lake or near the lake. Plön and Malente are connected by the legendary “5-lakes trip” by boat – and now also by bike. With a view of the lakes, you cycle through the nature park landscape, past Plön Castle or the Timmdorf and Malente smokehouses. The tour even touches 9 lakes!

A well signposted tour. The route partly led along well-traveled roads, but then always on bike paths. Overall a successful tour. The weather is always the deciding factor. It was ideal for us. Was fun.

From the parking lot at the game reserve, it goes in gentle waves through the Holstein hinterland to Plön. Alleys, small lakes, paddocks and fields, which are so wonderfully traversed by hedges and mighty trees, captivate the view.
The Plöner See has a lot to offer: a pretty castle with a park and garden, Prinzeninsel with a great restaurant, many …

Many very sandy paths but mostly in the shade 😎🙂

I'd seen Plön, circled Lake Plön, and checked into my accommodation.
So, for a change, I set off without any luggage and rode the 5-Lakes Route. A beautiful tour, but apart from Plön and Malente, there weren't many lakes to see... 🤔
A gravel bike would have been an advantage here and there 😁

A highly recommended route from Plön with plenty of water, forest, and views. The trails were very varied. At times, we deviated from the official route and rode on dirt roads instead of roads.

Very beautiful and varied bike tour past many lakes.

Today we started the 5 lakes tour in Malente. A comfortable, relaxed tour, during which we took a break at some lakes and looked at Plön Castle. It went past fields, through forests, to beautiful thatched houses, as well as to the Dieksee, Behlersee, Schöhsee, large Plönersee and Suhrer See. Finally, we made a detour to the Immenhof, which some …
