Großer Arber Summit Trail

Highlight • Trail

Approx. 1.5 hours away from the Arbersee.
The lower stretch is easy to walk. After that it gets rocky. But the view from the summit rewards the effort.

Very blocked and rooted climb to the Arber! Good shoes are an absolute must. To be consumed with caution when wet!

Very beautiful and sometimes challenging hiking trail up to the Arber. The effort for the ascent (descent) is worth it, if only because of the nature. Sure-footedness and sturdy shoes are essential!

Great Arber Lake

Highlight • Lake

As a cirque lake, the Great Arbersee is a relic from the last ice age. A special feature is the swinging lawn. The oscillating lawns, known as floating islands, are mainly found on the western edge of Lake Arbersee. They cover around two hectares of water and were created in the 19th century when the Arbersee was dammed by more than half a meter for the timber drift. In the process, moor blankets detached from the current lake floor and have been floating on the water surface ever since.

Arbersee House

Highlight • Restaurant

In 2016 the old Arberseehaus was demolished. After around two years of construction, the magnificent new building was opened in the summer of 2018. With its rustic charm, the new lake house is in no way inferior to the old one and offers hikers Bavarian cosiness and first-class food.
