Rifugio Gabiet

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Gabiet refuge is a welcoming alpine structure. It is easily accessible from Staffal and is located very close to the lake of the same name. This lake is located in a splendid basin with a wide panoramic view of Monte Rosa. Along the path that leads to the lake, you will also find a beautiful panoramic point at the bar. All the trails in this area are very suitable for trail running.

Passo dei Salati

Highlight • Mountain Pass

Pass that connects Alagna to Staffal, traveled during my crossing of the Alps from Trieste to Passo dei Giovi, the highest point of the entire crossing. From Alagna to Pianalunga, steep cycle road then up to Passo dei Salati, path passable by bike alongside, cycle road instead on the VdA side.

Salati Pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

Iconic pass between Valsesia and Valle d'Aosta and access point to make the legendary ascent to Monterosa. There are cable car connections, useful for those who, for example, want to go up from Alagna and then go down using the cable car.

September 5, 2023,Gressoney, Staffal, funivia, Gabiet e Salati
Started in the fog, G. S. Jean/Staffal very beautiful route. Here we save a bit of height difference with the cable car.
At Gabiet the weather is splendid. The climb to the Salati is steep, very steep.
At the Passo dei Salati you are divinely comfortable, above the clouds, a marvel.
We go down to Lake Gabiet and continue to …

Showing Translation

Deadly climb on the black ski slopes of the return from Stafal, enduro descent from Punta Jolanda at times pretty pissed off, very flow single track on return to Gressoney San jean, nice to do it fast if there are not too many pedestrians.
