San Campio Chapel

Highlight • Religious Site

The monumental complex of San Campio (chapel and transept) has been moved several times over the years from its original position. In 1865 it had to be moved due to the construction of the road that led to Vigo and in 1925 it was moved back to its current position in Ramallosa due to the arrival of the tram. The chapel is a sober neoclassical-style construction with a single nave, which preserves a magnificent altarpiece with Baroque reminiscences inside. The transept is a beautiful work, also neoclassical in appearance, which has great formal similarities with another transept, located in the parish of Figueiró (Tomiño), the work of Portuguese master stonemason Juan Antonio Ramallosa.
