Ostrężnik Castle Ruins

Highlight • Castle

The ruins of Ostrężnik castle cannot be seen for the forest. Unfortunately no photo of this either. There is a restaurant at their feet.

Honestly, it might have been my favourite segment of the whole Eagle's Nests Trail. Fun single track in a beautiful forest and with a perfect, gravel surface.

Devil's Bridges

Highlight • Natural Monument

Devil's Bridges are 15-meter-high monadnocks located in the "Parkowe" landscape reserve. They're easily accessible, as the trail runs right beneath them. The rocks were once connected by hanging footbridges, built on the initiative of Zygmunt Krasiński, who gave the monadnocks their name. Unfortunately, they fell apart over time due to lack of renovation. You can access the rocks from the back or... climb them "from the front."

Eagles' Nests Landscape Park

Highlight • Natural Monument

The park, which stretches from Częstochowa to Olkusz, lies in the area of two voivodeships: Małopolska and Silesia. The name of the park refers to the medieval fortified castles that were built on inaccessible rocks during the reign of Casimir the Great and were intended to protect the border and important trade routes. Today the ruins of the fortresses, such as in Rabsztyn, are a striking element of this area. Source Wikipedia It is part of the Krakow-Częstochau Jura (Jura Krakowsko-Częstochowska / Wyżyna Krakowsko-Częstochowska), a low mountain range with imposing rock formations.

Olsztyn Castle Ruins

Highlight • Castle

The castle in Olsztyn near Częstochowa is one of the most characteristic landmarks on the Trail of the Eagles' Nests. The ruins of a medieval fortress rise on a limestone hill, from where there is a wide panorama of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland. The castle once played an important defensive role on the borders of the Kingdom of Poland, and today it attracts history and photography enthusiasts. It is worth taking shoes with good soles - the ascent to the hill is short, but steep and rocky. It is best to leave your bike at the entrance or in the city.
