Castle of the Governor or Captain of the Square

Seat of the customs officer after the disarmament of 1772, the Castle of the Governor or Captain of the Piazza is an integral part of the city-fortress of Terra del Sole and overlooks the Roman gate towards Forlì, one of the city entrances; it is characterized by an angled and stellar shape, like its "twin" that overlooks the other access door.

It includes the Captain's Quarter, the passage tunnel, the "night" and "rest" Guard Corps, the saltpetre, cannonballs and trestle trestles warehouse.

Publicly owned, it houses the Municipal Historical Archive in the mezzanine, which houses 1500 files including the acts of the court of first instance (which had its seat in the Palazzo Pretorio), the oldest document of which dates back to 1490. Here it is preserved almost for the entire criminal archive of the Tuscan Romagna Province, perhaps the most complete criminal archive in Italy. The "G. Rossini" Music School, the Choral Group, the Contrada di Borgo Romano and the Flag-wavers, Musicians and Men of Arms are located on the main floor.

Sunny Rather pedalable and short climb (about 1-2 km for both sides), but with a discreet view at the "summit". There are a couple of hairpin bends (going up from the Lamone valley) which make it more interesting. Useful for passing from the valley of the Marzeno stream to that of the Lamone River (or vice versa).

Just past the La Carla pass (about 310m asl) there is the monument to the Italian rallies and from here there is a view of the Marzeno valley

Via Castel Raniero

Highlight • Trail

This climb can be pedaled and is quite far from traffic, characterized by the presence of many Maritime Pines, which make it recognizable even from the distance. If you go downhill it is quite fun because it does not have particularly tight or sudden turns. Asphalt redone in spring 2020, so even in summer 2020 it was still in perfect condition.

Via Degli Ossi

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

The entry way from Forlì into the area called labyrinth is a tangle of roads between Forlì and Faenza between the Via Emilia and the first hills.

Pieve of Santa Reparata

Highlight • Religious Site

Of Byzantine style, it dates back to the year 549: it is the oldest matrix church in the whole Acquacheta valley, it is about 1 km from Terra del Sole.

Of the original construction, there remain some arches of the central nave supported by corner pillars, an ancient baptismal font adorned with three rostrums, traces of frescoes and a sarcophagus font.
