La Doucinière

Highlight • Other

Typical hamlet of the Sèvre valley. Opposite the Chevalier mill you can see the ruins overgrown with vegetation of the Haute-Doucinière mill. The view of the river and the hamlet of Chevalier on the other bank is magnificent.
A footbridge connects the two banks. Note that the Doucinière and Chevalier roads are steep. A single path starts from the footbridge and runs along the Sèvre upstream towards the Guignardière mill. Practicable, but with some portage passages. The mill is only visible from a distance. Another path, more practicable, goes in the direction of Hucheloup downstream and passes under the remarkable viaduct of the Doucinière. Please note: this path ends with a staircase at Hucheloup.

Hucheloup

Highlight • Historical Site

Vast industrial site (spinning and tannery) which employed and housed hundreds of workers. Today abandoned, these factories which are falling into ruin do not leave the visitor indifferent.
The river is also very beautiful here.
Unfortunately, the path that connects Hucheloup to La Chimotaie is prohibited for bicycles.
The path that connects Hucheloup to La Doucinière is passable by bike but you go down there by a staircase.
Note that a footbridge located in lower Hucheloup allows you to cross the Sèvre.

The Arsenal

Highlight • Bridge

Some beautiful photos to be taken, from the bridge or the south bank, on the site of this former mill, then forge, then paper mill, then spinning mill, and now a residential area. The Sèvre is very beautiful, with many rocks.
The path along the Sèvre towards Clisson Castle is passable by bike (except for a staircase in one place). However, it can quickly become crowded with walkers.

Beau Soleil natural site

Highlight • Lake

Beautiful pond surrounded by magnificent trees. Plenty of benches that encourage rest or contemplation. A welcome little patch of greenery after crossing the vineyard in the full sun. A trail allows you to go around the natural site, but I didn't have time to try it. Note that the path that connects La Fauvette to La Pontereau is very smooth and magnificent.
